Trinity College's
Illinois Scholarship program—
Helping Illinois Students obtain an exceptional
Liberal Arts Undergraduate Education
Trinity's College's Illinois Scholarship Program offers Illinois high school students a unique opportunity to attend one of the nation's preeminent liberal arts colleges. Since the program began in 1948, it has provided more than $3 million in scholarships to over 300 Illinois students. Awarded on the basis of intellectual distinction, character, and leadership abilities, the scholarships meet students' full demonstrated financial need. Illinois Scholars do not need to arrange for student loans or hold a campus job during the academic year. They thus have more time to study and to take advantage of the extensive opportunities for cultural exploration, internships, and community service provided by Trinity's location in the capital city of Hartford.
And, Illinois Scholars have a remarkable opportunity to explore personal and professional interests during their summers, thanks to the newly launched Illinois Scholars Summer Internship Funding Program. Providing up to $5,000 per year, the internship program will fund approved summer internships for three consecutive summers beginning after freshman year.

Widely recognized as one of the finest liberal arts colleges in the nation, Trinity offers an education that is both global in scope and closely connected to the local community, the city, and cities throughout the world. Trinity's rigorous curriculum presents a broad array of interdisciplinary studies, exceptional offerings in science and engineering, and abundant opportunities for collaborative research with a faculty of devoted teacher-scholars.
Because of the College's small sizethe current undergraduate student body is only 1,939, and the student-to-faculty ratio is 10:1students come to know their professors personally and establish one-to-one working relationships with them. Classes are small, too. On average, class size is 21 students, and classes of five to fifteen students are common.
Trinity professors are both challenging and supportive. A good deal of learning happens outside the classroom, too. Students and professors often discuss course topics over a cup of coffee in the student center, local cafes, and sometimes even professors' houses. Trinity's small size also contributes to the campus' friendly atmosphere.
